My First Quilt by Kevin Martin Being curious about embroidery machines, I went to Sew Unique in Springfield.  I was met by a “Bubbly” lady named Bonnie.  I soon found out that she was the owner and really knows her stuff.  After discussing machines and options, she pointed me towards a used machine with lots of options.  The machine had been fully serviced and was set up for me to try.  Needless to say, time quickly slipped sway with Bonnie’s help and suggestions and tutoring.  At 6:50pm, I left the store, machine in hand and a lot more knowledge than what I entered the doors with.  The store closes at 4pm on Fridays, which goes to show that customer service and happy customers are first on Bonnie’s mind. The next few days were passed with calls to Bonnie for HELP!  She talked me through my questions and ended with, “I know you can do it.”  Well…..I made my first quilt!  I have a new granddaughter (the first) on the way and Grandpa has embroidered and sewn an embroidered baby quilt.  I couldn’t have done it without Bonnie’s help.  She suggested supplies such as rotary cutters, self healing cutting boards, squares, rulers, stabilizers, sewing machine feet and fabric.  I’m a firefighter and we don’t use any of that stuff!!!  It was nice to go to one place and find EVERYTHING I needed and advise oh how to use it. Bonnie has me hooked on a new hobby now.  I know that help is just a phone call away.  The nice thing about Bonnie and Sew Unique is, EVERYONE is family, not just a customer…FAMILY.  And yes Bonnie, I know......Get to stitchin!!!
